Not a bad buy, but lacks some basic features
The camera is not overly reliable, and doesn't have great sound quality. Although it does have 1080p video the quality has a ghosting effect in darker lighting and can be quite jumpy on playback. You cannot pause the video (you must stop the recording and start a new one# but you can add several basic effects in-camera, including: greyscale, 70s old film, sepia, colour filter, sunset and snow. Nowadays there are 20mpx cameras on the market for only £100, so this camera is less desirable considering not the lack of quality, but the lack of - as another person said - "IT". So if you want a cute camera that won't let you down, take this one #I've taken really special care of mine, consider that#. But if you need a high action super-duper camera, you might just need to fork out the extra pounds.

The Philips HD Camcorder CAM295BL is of very good quality and compact.
I have only used my Philips HD Camcorder CAM295BL a few times but have been very pleased with the quality of the footage and sound taking into account the size of the product. I had 10 years ago a camcorder 9 times bigger than this product and the quality of the picture is just as good if not better and with the positive of having the product being able to fit in the palm of your hand.
I have been using my digital camera (over 7 years old) for VT footage and though it is good the quality of the sound that is picked up by the Philips HD Camcorder CAM295BL is much better.

Easy and pocketable
I can carry this with me and make short videos as and when. Used it for business to inform someone of a problem I needed addressing. Good for stills too. Very reasonably priced and people who see it just want one.

An average product nothing special.
This is an ok camcorder considering the value of the product, however. It brags of a 12MP Picture quality and my Iphone takes better pictures? (only has 8MP camera) So im not so convinced. Its great for snapping the kids at home and recording days out when you dont want to use up your Iphone battery. It is a very simple camera to use with some cool functions but i honestly wouldnt recomend it as i look for perfection in a product and this doesnt have "IT"!
Also they have put the flash directly were you hold the product so the flash becomes pointless!
The USB charger isnt a great design as when its plugged into the PC it requires a small book to support otherwise youll rip it out!!
My advice double your spend and go for something better and try them out in the shops to not be dissapointed like me!!
