Philips Wake-up Light HF3520/01 Coloured Sunrise SimulationSince purchasing the Philips Wake-up Light HF3520/01 with Coloured Sunrise Simulation, we have found it to be a very good buy, and yes, we do think that it helps in the way that it wakes you up each morning, as we find that you are not feeling so “shocked awake” as when a normal alarm goes off. We find that the Bird song is a nice gentle wake-up call and even find that at times you are wake before the alarm because of the increasing light which is not a bright harsh light and allows you to drift a bit if needed. We find that the setting of 19 is bright enough to wake us without the glare of a normal bedside light. So, all in all yes, we are pleased with our purchase, and also use the Night-time light as well, which works in reverse by slowing diming the light until it goes off after the set time from 1 hour or as short as 10 minutes if required.
Cons; The only bits that need getting used to is the “touch buttons” along the bottom of the face of the light, could be a little clearer for ease of use at times, and the only other small gripe is that you have to set the alarm each day rather than just setting it once with it coming back on the next morning. Not a big deal as it remembers the last setting once you have turned it off in the morning but it would be nice not to have to remember it each night, when going to bed.

Best of the bunch - an all-round winner with few drawbacks. This is the best of the "wake up more naturally" products that I have used, and the one that I have stuck with.
I don't agree with some other people who say that this gives them masses of energy in the morning or anything like that, perhaps because I don't suffer from SAD, nor am I a "morning person", what it does do (for me) is ease me in to the day better - I'm not jarred awake by an alarm, and am usually just awake enough by the time the sounds start that I don't feel the need to snooze the alarm half a dozen times over like I used to with regular alarm clocks.
Regarding the device itself, it's an attractive design, not too large like some previous ones, and the light can be bright enough to fill the room and certainly way brighter than you need to read etc. It's obviously dimmable and remembers your setting each time.
There is a mix of "proper" buttons and touch controls which is a little odd, but not an issue. Once you get used to the button positions (they're small) they're easy to use and the touch controls are nicely responsive and sensitive - you don't need to prod at it 10 times to get it to respond to you.
Two alarms, so you can perhaps use one on a weekday and one at the weekend without reprogramming.
The negatives. Few, but worth noting. The radio, while decent, is FM and not DAB which would have been nice and surely not a big ask these days. Also, it would perhaps have been nice for the snooze function to dim the "sun" perhaps to half your preferred brightness while also silencing the noise, but it doesn't.
I'd still recommend this unit with those caveats.

Wake up in a good mood and ready to go when its dark in the morning!I bought this product for my other half who has problems getting to sleep and waking up, it lives on his side of the bed.
However what we're noticing is that we wake up beautifully and with ease, not shocked out of slumber, just gently pulled as the light starts at a red tone and gradully moves over a period of time to a lovely white colour (daylight). Its lovey and i would certainly recommend this for those of you who find your current alarm harsh or simply you'd like to start the day with ease and a bounce! We also find that the evening sunset setting a real plus for relaxing a nd drifting off. Love it!
My feedback Id like to share with Philips would be....
More sounds please.
The ones you've chosen are good, however more variation needed and number 5 with the waves crashing and seagulls- the seagulls are a little high pitched as in too close. Love the waves though!

Underbar att både somna och vakna tillDenna har verkligen hjälpt mig att komma upp under en annars stressig och deppig period. Helt underbar!
I övrigt funkar den också bra som vanlig lampa och radio.

Waking up made easyThis product is wonderful, the coloured sunrise and glow enhances my mood as it bathes my bedroom in light. Radio or birdsong accompany my waking experience. Ideal for these dreary dark mornings and for fellow SAD sufferers.

Nice looking alarm/light but you have to set the alarm every day?!I wanted to like this. I bought it to replace an older model (HF3463) which had a few problems but overall did the job and has made getting up so much easier.
Unfortunately I have had to return it after one day since it fails at some fairly basic functions required for an alarm clock. The biggest (and strangest) issue is that the alarm has to be set every day! So turning off the alarm when you wake up actually turns it off completely. You then have to press the alarm button followed by the "select" button twice to select hours and minutes to reset it for the following night. The old model didn't have this issue so I'm not sure why this has been changed. I'm quite surprised more people have not mentioned this in their reviews.
The other big problem is that the buttons to actually turn it off once you are awake are hidden around the top so you need to get up turn the main light on and lean over it to work out which 2 buttons to press to turn off the alarm and light (separately). The old model had a big off button on top and one press would turn off both alarm and light and NOT stop the alarm going off the next day.
The easy to reach "touch" (prod) sensitive front only acts as a snooze button which I find odd since the point of this light is that you are fully awake so don't need to snooze. It's also strange how hard you have to press it bearing in mind the touch sensitive menu buttons on the bottom half work fine.
It's a lot dimmer than my old model. I had my old one set at level 12 out of 20 and it was still brighter than this is at max.
On the plus side it looks a lot nicer and feels more solid and high quality than the old one. But it seems like it hasn't really been thought through properly from a functionality perspective.
